Connect your Laptop to Your TV for the Ultimate Viewing Experience

connect your laptop to your TVFor those of you who enjoy watching YouTube videos online, or perhaps home movies, digital pictures, and other miscellaneous downloaded videos from the comfort of your home computer can now view these items on your wide screen TV. You may have also signed up for Netflix and wish to watch streaming movies on your new LED TV without having to purchase such devices as the Roku player.

It’s extremely, in this day and age, to connect your laptop to your TV and enjoy all the capabilities of your computer on a larger screen. We’ll show you how to do so through a wired connection, thanks to Adria Richards.

Wired connection
Check to see which cable you like to utilize for your connection. If you have an HDTV, you’ll want to use an HDMI cable or a DVI cable. Some older PCs only utilize VGA cables, so you’ll need to to see if your TV supports VGA, which most do. If you find that your television utilizes one connection type and your computer utilizes another, then you’ll need to purchase an adapter according to the cable input you choose to use. You can find these adapters on eBay or Amazon. Most standard definition televisions allow S-video connections, so for those who have not upgraded to HDTV’s, this may be your only choice.

Make Sure Your Computer is Off
There may be an instance where your computer doesn’t recognize your TV input. In these cases, ensure that your PC has been turned off before you plug your cable into your TV. Once complete, proceed to power on your laptop and allow it to recognize the TV as an external display device.

Television input selection
Make sure your television has been selected to utilize the correct input source, example: DVD, HDMI, auxiliary, etc. This will generally depend upon the cable you use to connect the two devices. If you need to change picture quality, you can do so by either utilizing the PC display settings or TV picture settings. I would highly recommend using your PC settings, as to not interfere with your standard program viewing on your TV, at a later date .

connect laptop to pc in your own living roomNow that everything is set up properly for your laptop to TV connection, you can login to whatever video service you choose and enjoy this media on your newly set up TV. Looking to show off a few pics, check your Facebook account, or watch a work-related video presentation on a much larger display? The possibilities are endless.

The option presented to you within this article is one of the most cheap options currently at your disposal. Although not very practical, it is a great option to utilize PC to TV viewing instantly without having to purchase special equipment.
